Vaccination does not end in childhood

The childhood vaccination programme covers the first years of life. As an adult, which vaccines are relevant for you depends on your age, your health, your work and your travels.

We follow the recommendations of Statens Serum Institut and the Danish Health Authority, and experienced healthcare professionals assess with you what makes sense. Vaccination is always your own choice.

Which vaccines are relevant for you?

All adults

Tetanus and diphtheria

Everyone who has had the primary vaccinations should have a booster - revaccination every 10 years. The vaccine is also used for wounds.

From 50

Shingles

Caused by the chickenpox virus waking up again later in life, and can cause long-lasting nerve pain. Recommended from 50 if you have had chickenpox - from 18 if you are at increased risk. 2 doses 2 months apart.

From 65 and at increased risk

Pneumococcus

Pneumococci can cause pneumonia and blood poisoning. Recommended from 65 and at increased risk, for example diabetes on treatment or chronic heart, lung, kidney or liver disease. 1 dose.

When you spend time in nature

TBE (tick-borne encephalitis)

Relevant if you spend time in vegetation in known tick areas - Bornholm and parts of North Zealand, as well as Sweden, the Baltics, Poland, Germany and Austria. 3 doses and the first booster after 3 years.

Missed it as a child?

HPV

HPV is a virus that can cause cervical cancer and cancer of the vagina, vulva and anus, as well as genital warts. Adults can be vaccinated at their own expense after a clinical assessment. From 15: 3 doses.

With increasing age

RS virus (RSV)

RSV can cause serious pneumonia, especially in older people. Adults from 18 can choose the vaccine - particularly relevant with increasing age or chronic heart or lung disease. Pregnant women get it free through the public programme.

Travel and work

Hepatitis A and B

Hepatitis A is spread through food and water, hepatitis B through blood and body fluids. Relevant for travel, work with a risk of blood contact and certain chronic diseases.

Every autumn

Flu and COVID-19

The flu vaccine is updated every season. You can have both vaccinations at the same visit.

How it works

You book a time yourself without a referral. At your visit, we go through which vaccines you have had and what is relevant for you - feel free to check your previous vaccinations on sundhed.dk beforehand. After the vaccination, you stay at the clinic for about 15 minutes, and the vaccination is reported to the Danish Vaccination Register (DDV).

For vaccination at the clinic, there is a basic fee of DKK 150 for adults and DKK 99 for children under 15 per visit - but not for flu vaccination. If you are a member of Sygeforsikringen "danmark" (group 1, 2 or 5), you get a 50% subsidy - 75% for members aged 16-25. All prices are on our vaccination page.

Pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you can be vaccinated with the vaccines that are approved and recommended in your situation - we assess this individually at your appointment. Whooping cough, RSV and flu vaccination during pregnancy are free through the public programme.
