Most things can't be felt - your numbers can

You can book a private blood test at NurseCare yourself, without a referral from your own doctor. The sample is taken by experienced healthcare professionals and analysed at an accredited hospital laboratory. Some measurements we do with a finger-prick test while you wait - others are sent to the laboratory, where results are usually ready within 1-3 working days.

Your results are yours - also if your own doctor needs to see them

Your results from NurseCare are available on sundhed.dk - the same place as your other health data, so you can easily show them to your own doctor.

PSA is a protein made by the prostate, and the level rises naturally with age. If you have urinary symptoms, your own doctor is the right place to start.

Before you choose PSA: A raised PSA is most often caused by something benign, and a normal result does not rule out cancer. A raised result can lead to further tests, and in some cases a slow-growing cancer is found that would never have caused problems. Screening of healthy men is not recommended in Denmark. We will briefly go through this with you before the sample is taken.

Includes:

  • P-Prostate-specific antigen

Frequently asked questions about blood tests

No. You can book and pay for a blood test at NurseCare yourself, without a referral from your own doctor. Simply book an appointment online at our clinic in Copenhagen.

A private blood test is a blood test you book and pay for yourself - without a referral from your own doctor and without waiting for the public healthcare system. At NurseCare, you choose the tests or a package yourself, book an appointment at the clinic on Rømersgade in Copenhagen and get results for most tests within 1-3 working days. The results are yours, and you can take them to your own doctor if anything needs following up.

Single tests start at DKK 299, and our best-selling complete check - the Basic blood test package - costs DKK 1,599. The price covers both sample collection and analysis. You can see all prices in the overview on this page.

If we use a finger-prick test (for example for cholesterol and long-term blood sugar), you get the result during your visit. Other blood tests are analysed at a hospital laboratory, and results are usually ready within 1-3 working days. The lead blood test takes 2-3 weeks.

It depends on what is being measured. For blood sugar (glucose), we recommend that you fast for 8 hours, drinking only water before the test. Cholesterol and most other tests do not require fasting. You can always book when it suits you - if you have not fasted, we make a note of it so that your result can be assessed correctly. We recommend that cortisol and testosterone are taken in the morning, ideally before 10 am (testosterone preferably fasting), and that you avoid hard exercise for 2-3 days before creatine kinase (CK) - but here too, you can book whenever it suits you.

You get your results directly on sundhed.dk - the same place as the rest of your health data. If a value is outside the normal range, we recommend that you follow up with your own doctor. NurseCare also sends you a personal results letter that explains your figures and next steps. It is included in the price and sent as a PDF locked with a code you agree with us at your visit. If you do not have a Danish CPR number, you receive your results in the letter instead.

Yes. eGFR is a measure of your kidney function. It is calculated from creatinine, your age and your sex, and it is automatically included in your result when you have creatinine measured - at no extra cost.

Yes. NurseCare offers INR, which shows how quickly your blood clots. In Denmark, prothrombin time (PT) and prothrombin activity are reported as INR. INR costs DKK 539 including the blood draw, and you can choose it on its own or together with other markers under Build your own blood test package on this page. The sample is taken at our clinic, and your result is shown on sundhed.dk, usually within 1-3 working days. If you take blood-thinning medication, your dose should still be managed by your own doctor or the clinic responsible for your treatment.

Yes. Many companies offer their employees health services as a staff benefit. If your employer has an agreement with NurseCare, the agreed price also applies to you and your family at the clinic. Ask your HR department, or contact us to hear about a company agreement.

All blood samples are taken by experienced healthcare professionals with emergency care experience. The tests are analysed at an accredited hospital laboratory - the same laboratories that hospitals use themselves.

Yes, there are three things that are important to know before you book. We do not take blood samples from anyone under 18. We do not make diagnoses or carry out diagnostic assessments - your results are delivered to sundhed.dk, and if a test shows something that needs follow-up, we will contact you - and you are always welcome to contact us yourself if you have questions about your results. Finally, we reserve the right not to take a blood sample at your appointment if our healthcare professionals assess that the sample should not be taken.

Symptoms such as tiredness and difficulty concentrating cannot on their own show whether you are low in a particular vitamin or mineral - that requires a blood test. Our vitamin and mineral package measures vitamin D, B12, folate, iron and ferritin, among others. Read more about vitamin and mineral deficiency here.
