Most of it cannot be felt - but it shows in the numbers

According to the Danish patient handbook on sundhed.dk, 20-25% of adults have high blood pressure, and most notice nothing. The same often applies to raised cholesterol and blood sugar. A check gives you the numbers, so you know where you stand.

Testosterone

Testosterone falls naturally during the day, and stress, sleep and medicine also affect the level. That is why the test makes most sense in the morning.

One low testosterone result is not a diagnosis. Testosterone deficiency must be confirmed by a repeat morning sample and assessed together with symptoms and an examination by a doctor.

PSA - a choice you make informed

Screening healthy men without symptoms is not recommended in Denmark. A raised PSA is most often caused by something benign, and a normal result does not rule out cancer. A PSA test can make sense for the well-informed man at increased risk - for example over 45 with prostate cancer in the close family.

If you have urinary problems, blood in your urine or semen or other symptoms, see your own GP - not a private blood test.
