Choose your destination

We have gathered vaccine advice for the most popular destinations (in Danish for now). If your destination is not on the list yet, book anyway and add it in the comments field - we cover all destinations and plan your vaccinations at the visit.

More destinations are on the way.

How it works

  1. Book an appointment online and add your destination and departure date in the comments field. If several of you are travelling, you can book together.
  2. We make the plan with you. Our experienced healthcare professionals go through your trip and your previous vaccinations and recommend the vaccines that are relevant.
  3. You get vaccinated - and we tell you when any further doses are due. The vaccinations are registered in the DDV.

The most common travel vaccines

Which vaccines you need depends on your trip. These are the vaccines we most often give before travel. Doses, protection and prices are on our page about vaccination at the clinic.

  • Hepatitis A - spreads through food and water and is relevant for most trips to Asia, Africa, South America and parts of southern Europe.
  • Hepatitis B - spreads through blood and body fluids - relevant for longer trips and where there is a risk of blood contact. Also available combined with hepatitis A.
  • Diphtheria-tetanus (booster) - most people were vaccinated as children; the booster should be renewed every 10 years.
  • Typhoid - spreads through contaminated food and water - relevant for travel to South Asia, Africa and South America.
  • Rabies - consider before trips to countries where rabies occurs, including short trips - especially if you will be far from medical treatment. Read more about rabies
  • Japanese encephalitis - for longer stays in rural areas in parts of Asia.
  • Meningococcal ACWY - required for the pilgrimage to Mecca and often for study stays in the USA.
  • Yellow fever - required for entry to certain countries in Africa and South America - we check the requirement for your destination.
  • Cholera - an oral vaccine, mainly for longer stays in basic conditions.

Also make sure your childhood vaccinations (including MMR) are complete - this applies to all trips.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and children

We vaccinate children from the age of 2, so that the childhood vaccination programme has been completed first. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you can be vaccinated with the vaccines that are approved and recommended in your situation - we assess this individually at your visit. Please let us know when you book.

Malaria

Malaria medication requires a prescription and is handled by your own doctor - it is not part of our services, and we do not advise on malaria. Statens Serum Institut (SSI) describes the risk for your destination at rejse.ssi.dk.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to get vaccinated before my trip?

No. You book an appointment online yourself at NurseCare's clinic at Rømersgade 3 in Copenhagen - you do not need to see your own doctor first.

How long before departure should I get vaccinated?

Ideally 4-6 weeks before you leave, because several travel vaccines are given in more than one dose. Book anyway if you have less time - many vaccines can be given close to departure, and we prioritise the most important ones.

How much does travel vaccination cost?

You pay for the vaccines you receive plus a basic fee of DKK 150 for adults and DKK 99 for children under 15 per visit - no matter how many vaccines you get. If you are a member of the Danish health insurance Sygeforsikringen "danmark", you get a subsidy for travel vaccines. See all prices on our page about vaccination at the clinic.

Which vaccines do I need?

It depends on your destination, the length of your stay, how you travel and which vaccines you have had before. Add your destination and departure date when you book, and our experienced healthcare professionals will plan the right vaccinations with you at your visit.

Do you vaccinate children and pregnant women?

We vaccinate children from the age of 2. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you can be vaccinated with the vaccines that are approved and recommended in your situation - we assess this individually at your visit.

Do you offer malaria medication?

No. Malaria medication requires a prescription and is available from your own doctor. Statens Serum Institut (SSI) describes the malaria risk for your destination at rejse.ssi.dk.

Can several of us come together?

Yes. If you are travelling as a family or group, you can book together, and we will plan for all of you at the same visit.

Do I need a rabies vaccine for a short holiday?

Statens Serum Institut recommends considering preventive rabies vaccination before travelling to countries where rabies occurs - including short trips, especially where access to rabies treatment is limited. The number of Danes treated after a bite or scratch from an animal abroad rose by 65% from 2024 to 2025. NurseCare offers rabies vaccination at our clinic at Rømersgade 3 in Copenhagen.
